  Important Dates

  • Submission of special session proposals: November 1, 2013
  • Extended full paper submission deadline: December 16, 2013
  • Notification of acceptance: February 17, 2014
  • Camera-ready papers: March 10, 2014
  • Conference start: March 30, 2014

  Scope of Submissions

The symposium focuses on research, application and commercialisation aspects of the power line communications technology, in both broadband and narrowband fields. Prospective authors are cordially invited to submit contributions describing completed or ongoing research related to the power line communication area. We welcome contributions that address all aspects related to PLC including but not limited to the following topics:

  • PLC in smart grids;
  • cognitive, cooperative, and autonomous approaches;
  • modulation, coding and signal processing for PLC;
  • electromagnetic compatibility, interference and coupling;
  • multiple access techniques and protocols;
  • cross-layer optimisation, service integration;
  • system architectures, security and PLC networks;
  • standardisation, regularisation, and commercial networks;
  • channel characterisation, modelling, experimental systems, & field trials;
  • multiple access techniques and MAC protocols;
  • duplex & repeater techniques, routing and autonomous network functions;
  • network planning and optimisation
  • green communications;
  • coexistence and interoperability;
  • modem and LSI design;
  • network and service management;
  • system architectures and solutions;
  • broadband and multimedia applications;
  • access, in-home and in-vehicle power line networks;
  • ... and any other topic related to power line communications.

  Special Session Proposals

If you are interested in organising a special session, please contact the Special Session Chair Pierre Siohan (pierre.siohan(at)orange.com) or the General Chair Stephan Weiss (stephan.weiss(at)strath.ac.uk) to discuss this further. You would be expected to organise four or more contributions to your special session, which will undergo the standard review process for IEEE ISPLC 2014 paper submission.

  ComSoc Policy

To be published in the IEEE ISPLC 2014 Conference Proceedings and to be eligible for publication in IEEE Xplore®, an author of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference at the full (member or non-member) rate and the paper must be presented by an author of that paper at the conference unless the TPC Chair grants permission for a substitute presenter arranged in advance of the event and who is qualified both to present and answer questions. Non-refundable registration fees must be paid prior to uploading the final IEEE formatted, publication-ready version of the paper. For authors with multiple accepted papers, one full registration is valid for up to 3 papers. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the IEEE ISPLC 2014 Conference Proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore®.

  Submission Information

Submissions must be original, i.e. should not have been presented in other conferences or journals, limited to 6 double-column pages, and adhere to IEEE paper templates for LateX and MS Word, which can be found at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html.

Only PDF files are accepted for the review process, and all submissions must be made electronically through EDAS at http://edas.info/N16189.

More information will be posted under Information for Authors.
